SAVE on Hybrid Automobiles and save on fuel. Hybrid Auto Bargains is a site created to save you money - on fuel and on hybrid cars. Included are the hybrid cars available at this time. Also included on the site are four non-hybrid cars named on the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), list of the 12 "Greenest Cars of 2008." These non-hybrid cars are Honda Civic, Honda Fit,  Ford Focus, and Toyota Yaris. The Green Score is a numeric value of a vehicle's environmental friendliness, as assigned by the ACEEE. Determined by more factors than just fuel economy, the score also incorporates tailpipe and other emissions that can cause global warming. The higher the Green Score the more environmentally friendly the vehicle, based on the ACEEE evaluation.

We can expect to see many more hybrids as we enter the new model year and beyond. We now know BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, and Hyundai are planning the release of new hybrids in the 2009 and 2010 model years. We can also expect new hybrid models from the American auto makers. The RSS feed on the right will help us keep up-to-date on new developments in hybrid technology.

Diesels Make Strong Presence at LA Auto Show

The brand-new VW Jetta TDI diesel took the Green Car of the Year award at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show. The Jetta TDI won based on its high fuel efficiency numbers--41 mpg on the highway and 30 in the city—and its price point of $21,900. The high-mpg and low cost gave the Jetta TDI the upper hand—“market significance” is a key criteria for the award—as it bested the more expensive BMW 335d (also an oil-burner), as well Ford Fusion Hybrid and Saturn Vue Two-Mode Hybrid, and the diminutive Smart car.
