Also included on the site are four non-hybrid cars named on the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE), list of the 12 "Greenest Cars of 2008." These non-hybrid cars are Honda Civic, Honda Fit, Ford Focus, and Toyota Yaris. The Green Score is a numeric value of a vehicle's environmental friendliness, as assigned by the ACEEE. Determined by more factors than just fuel economy, the score also incorporates tailpipe and other emissions that can cause global warming. The higher the Green Score the more environmentally friendly the vehicle, based on the ACEEE evaluation.
We can expect to see many more hybrids as we enter the new model year and beyond. We now know BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, and Hyundai are planning the release of new hybrids in the 2009 and 2010 model years. We can also expect new hybrid models from the American auto makers.
